How to Create a Home Party Plan EXPLOSION! Lesson 1b - Should I hire an outside coach? What could it do for my business?

LESSON ONE: Finding An Objective Mentor or Coach
CHALLENGE #1 - FINDING OBJECTIVE MENTORSHIP
Have you ever considered hiring an outside coach to help you make objective decisions about your career and your life? Have you ever seen the breakthroughs and progress that can be made when being mentored by an experienced and committed coach who is NOT associated with your company?
Your life is most likely out of balance in some area. Its difficult for us to identify exactly what changes need to be made. We're just TOO close to our own challenges, and many times, so is your immediate upline. Often, it takes someone totally objective observing us from the outside to identify what changes are needed. Even subtle improvements can dramatically impact you, your family, and your business.
SUCCESS PRINCIPLE #1 - FOLLOW THESE MENTORSHIP STEPS TO SUCCESS
STEP A: Find a Coach
Find a reliable, effective, compatible outside direct sales coach. Even if you can't afford to start receiving private instruction, find out about group tele-classes, introductory consulting, and live seminars.
STEP B: Continuing Education
Never stop learning. Those who continue to gain new knowledge will continue to progress, those who don't, won't. You don't have to spend more than 15-30 minutes per day on this, but DON'T MISS IT!! Its should be come habitual, like brushing your teeth. Make it a part of your every day routine.
What should you be doing to keep learning?
Have you ever heard the saying “leaders are readers, readers are leaders”? Well, its true. And EVERYONE should be “listeners” as well. Don't listen to music in your car, listen to educational and inspirational tapes. Seek out all sources of inspirational and educational tapes, videos, and especially LIVE events. Join with entrepreneurial people in and out of your company. Expand your horizons. Seek out every opportunity to learn about the following topics. Most people list these backwords, but here's the proper order:
#1 PRIORITY: Learn about you – Study books and tapes that help you understand your potential and your divine nature. Seek your sources of inspiration every morning before you get started and every night before you retire. Learn how to search, ponder, and even pray about everything you learn. These step are GUARANTEED to change your life FAST!!
#2 PRIORITY: Learn about your industry – Direct Sales has exploded to nearly a $30 BILLION industry in the US alone. The more you know about your industry, the more new reps your be able to inspire to JOIN this industry. Ask your FIVE most respected, highly successful mentors and leaders “what are the last 5 books you've read about direct sales/network marketing/Home Party Planmarketing” and and READ THEM. Just 15 minutes of reading per day will CHANGE YOUR LIFE and your Home Party Plan Business forever!
#3 PRIORITY: Learn about your company – Don't just read your company's training manual, brochure, or website and assume you know all you need to know about your company's founders and history. Go on a QUEST for company knowledge. And here's a clue, focus your investigation on the PEOPLE, not on dates and facts. After all, companies don't invent themselves, people do. Find out the who, what, when, where, why, and how. Find out what inspired them to start the company. Find out who your founder's heroes and mentors are. Find out about their biggest challenges and failures, and their most glorious victories. Find out their VALUES and compare them to your own. And find out their favorite 5 most inspirational books, and read them.
#4 PRIORITY: Learn about your product – And finally, learn everything there is to know about your product. Read books about your product industry. Subscribe to magazines that feature information on that industry. Try to focus on your “flag ship” product but learn about ALL your products, and personally purchase and USE ALL of your products.
Although this is VERY important, its also the most over-rated step. After all, one of the #1 reasons people will join you in direct sales is because of WHO YOU ARE. One of the #1 reasons they will NOT join you, is because they're too intimidated about HOW MUCH you know about your product and company and they think to themselves, “He or She can do this, but I never could learn all that…” and so they're scared right out of the opportunity. The trick is to learn all you can about your products so YOU can have CONFIDENCE in your product and company. Then learn how to express this knowledge in the most SIMPLE terms, so you don't overwhelm your customers, distributors, and party guests.
Most people want to put the PRODUCT at the TOP of the list. I don't blame you. After all, most direct sellers usually join their companies based on their love for the product. However, if you really think deeply about this principle (as I have for the last 10 years), you'll discover that without your company's founders, leadership and structure, there is no product. They go away and it goes away.
Without this INCREDIBLE industry which was created and fought for by the direct selling “pioneers” who came from a variety of different companies (some of which are no longer even around), your company would not even exist today. Most importantly, if you didn't have the courage, the ambition, or the connections to ultimately become involved with direct sales, then this incredible direct selling machine would have rolled right along, without you every knowing what it could do for you and your loved ones, and what you could do for it.
Balance Your Life - The JARS Story
A wise professor once stood in front of a college classroom with TWO large, clear jars, two buckets of rocks, two buckets of smaller rocks, two buckets of gravel, two buckets of sand, and two pitchers of water. He asked a few class members to come down and take ONE SET of each of the two items and insert them into one of the jars. They did this in random order and soon the jar was OVERFLOWING with a mixture of rocks, gravel, sand, water – it was a big mess and they still could not fit it all in.
The professor then took the other set of materials and explained to his class that THESE items are the exact size and weight of the other materials and if anyone would like, they can measure for themselves. Then, he carefully inserted all of the BIG rocks into the glass jar. Then he inserted the smaller rocks, then the gravel, then the sand, and amazingly it all fit without even breaking the plane of the top of the jar. He then pored the pitcher of water into the jar and it filled the jar exactly to the TOP without spilling even a drop.
The professor then asked the class, what does this object lesson teach us. One student raised his hand and said, “you can always fit more into your life.” The professor said, “nice try son, but no cigar for you.” Then a bright young lady spoke up and stated, “it teaches us about priorities.” “Go on”, said the professor. “If we put the biggest, most important things in our life in first and we set them in place, and then add the next most important, and the next most important until we get down to the every day tasks, not only can we fit it all, but we have total balance in our lives,” said the student. The professor beamed with admiration and stated, “I couldn't have said it better myself!”
One of the biggest excuses I get from new coaching students is... "I just don't have TIME to do my Home Party Plan Business and take care of all of my family responsibilities." Upon a simple analysis of how they spend their time, I can usually conclude in ONE session that their priorities are a bit wacky and with some simple adjustments, we're back in business. Your coach can help you with this, but as a first step, sit down with your family and get out a 3 month calendar. Put in all of the ABSOLUTELY most important events. Include everything that is important to supporting your spouse and family and developing relationship with each and every family member.
But don't forget to express to your family how important it is for you to make time for your business. You Home Party Plan Business is more that just a business. Your Home Party Plan Business represents freedom, income, retirement, basic household needs, better clothes, better food, better vacations, better home and cars, better quality of life. It is also an outlet for you, socially, spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally. It's a source of inspiration and education. Your Home Party Plan Business is one of the best things that ever happened to THEM and they need to know it!!
