Bring Christmas to your product parties

By Amy Coulter from Party Plan Australia!

Christmas time comes upon us very quickly. There are lots of presents to buy and not enough time. Changing your parties at Christmas time brings more joy to your parties and also reminds everyone that Christmas is on its way and your there to help.

These are some things you can do during Christmas to make things more fun and to improve your sales:

  • Change your display by making is a bit Christmassy. Use white material as your tablecloth and decorate with some tinsel or decorations. A small tree looks great too.

  • Offer free gift wrapping and personalized gift tags. It's what all the stores do and they love not having to sneak the gift into the house when eyes are lurking!

  • Hold an open house where people can drop in, see the products, order and then leave. People are busy around this time of the year so being able to drop in and out without hassle is very convenient.

If you can, get some other party plan consultants from other companies involved. This helps by having more people present to view the products and also gives your customers more options for gift buying.

  • Send out Christmas cards to your past and current hostesses wishing them a Merry Christmas and offering to help with their gift buying.

  • Don't forget to cater for the males! They buy gifts for their partners so offer to help them with the gift selection and offer gift-wrapping and delivery a few days prior to Christmas (to stop the partners searching!)

  • Order some products in advance and make up some small gift baskets or gift boxes with products for customers to buy then and there. Sometimes the hassle of ordering and getting it later puts people off ordering.

  • Include a Christmas treat such as a candy cane with your orders. Everyone loves a treat and it will help you get returning customers.

  • Advertise your Christmas specials! They are there for you to use so take advantage of them by showing them to all customers and leaving some specials brochures at waiting rooms.

  • Offer Catalogue parties. Those that are too busy with their own Christmas stuff can still see the products and get the benefits without the need to give up their time, to have people around and clean up after they leave!

  • Make up gift vouchers that customers can buy and give as gifts. If your customer knows their friend loves a certain product but is unsure what colour or fragrance to get it in a voucher makes the buy much easier!

  • Lots of people hold raffles around Christmas time such as sport and dancing clubs. Donate a prize and don't forget to include your business card and a voucher for their next purchase!

  • Play some games that have a Christmas theme. Such as the snowman game or who wants to be a reindeer.

  • Have some Christmas treats there for snacks such as snowballs, fruitcake and eggnog.

  • Having Christmas music playing while guests come it. This gets everyone into the mood and helps everyone to realise that the party is starting when you turn the music off.

  • Give everyone who attends a December party a voucher for something special if they host a January party. This will start you of good for the rest of the year and will give everyone a chance to spend all that Christmas money!
